Original 1944 Dated British Army Officer's Collarless Shirt - Size 42"

An rare original British Army Officers collarless shirt dating from 1944 and in large size. 

This shirt is typical of those worn throughout WW2 and is essentially unchanged from those of the Great War. Made from a soft, khaki coloured wool flannel; the shirt features a half placket, or 'tunic' front. This style of shirt was popular in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK losing favour to more fitted full button front shirts in the 1950s. The shirt features a neckband style collar which is made from contrasting khaki coloured cotton. 

Inside the neckband the original markings are present and are still bright and legible. The maker's initials of 'H. N & S Ltd' are present as is the 1944 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The shirt is a rare large size which will fit around a 42" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 25 1/2"
Inside arm - 23"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Collar - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 38"

The shirt is in very good condition for its age and is still very wearable. It does not appear to have been issued or worn and is very fresh overall. There are a couple of small holes as illustrated in the pictures but on the whole it is in excellent condition. The shirt displays well and is very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing.
