    About this item

    An original World War One era Victory medal, with good length of original ribbon.  Named to;

    LIEUT. C. GARRED.

    I believe this to be Claude Harry Garred.  He began service as a humble Bombardier with s/n 28887.  The Medal Index Card shows his rise throught the ranks, being commissioned on 21 December 1916. He was entitled to a 15 Star trio having arrived in France on 17 July 1915.  He lived at 23 Alexandra Road, St Leonard on Sea, Sussex.
