WW1 Bruce Bairnsfather Signed Milk Jug & Bruce Bairnsfather Postcard

For sale is a rare circa 1917 WW1 Grimwades Bruce Bairnsfather Signed ‘Old bill’ Plum & Apple Milk Jug, marked on the base “GB Grimwades Winton Stoke on Trent England” the bag of the jug depicts the royal coat of arms, and the front is a satire illustration of old bill eating a plum and apple tin, saying when the hell is it going to be strawberry. Signed by Bruce bairnsfarther. These pieces were sold during and after the war to raise money for the soldiers of Great Britain and the common wealth. This was satire and humerus at the time as the story goes as told by the bbc:

  “At the outbreak of war, Ticklers [of Grimsby] secured a contract to supply front lines with plum and apple jam – a contract worth £1m between 1914 and 1918. Its suggested empty jam tins were used as makeshift-grenades gaining the name ‘Ticklers artillery’.   The milk jug is one of the rarer bits of the set to collect, unfortunately there is a small chip in the mouth of the jug and several small cracks please see photos for more details.    Accompanying this jug is a Bruce Bairnsfather postcard titled “Bystander, Keeping His Hand In. Private Smith, the company bomber, formerly. "Shino," the popular Juggler, frequently causes considerable anxiety to his platoon”.
