For sale is a WW2 British Army Soldiers Brass Petrol Lighter by The Parr Mfg Co. This is in mostly good condition, however it does need a new flint and new wick.
Now apparently, at the beginning of WW2 the British government mandated price controls and initiated a price ceiling for manufacturers to retail cigarette lighters at £1 or less. These became known as “Utility Lighters” or “UL”.
The base is impressed with “The Parr Mfg Co.” and the letters “UL”, relating to Utility Lighter.
