Within a very short space of time after War was declared we realized that the volume of orders we were going to receive was destined to stretch our pro- duction capacity to its full and would entail disappointing many of our regular customers due to the urgent need for diverting production from peace-time channels into those special types already approved for the fighting services. One of the features of the Alkaline Battery which make it such an attractive proposition to the Services is its ability to retain its charge for very long periods under widely varying climatic conditions and yet remain ready instantaneously to supply current upon the closing of a switch.
