About this item
WW2 RAF TYPE-A MKII K-TYPE DINGHY SEAT PACK. A nice pack as used for carrying the K-type dinghy. This type of pack would of been used and attached to a seat-type parachute harness.
A good example of the TYPE-A MKII K-TYPE dinghy pack. Some soiling to the pack but not too bad, I think there has been some slight fading to the top but it's not too bad at all. There is no damage we can see either, to the top of the pack there is a 4 language panel in French, Polish, Czech, and English. This is because of the different nationalities that flew with the RAF during WW2. This is still legible, it has faded and worn a bit from use but it's still readable. To the reverse we find the pack marked with stores reference number 27C/1899, also marked TYPE-A MKII. The pack is still with the original lanyard that would have been attached to the wearers' Mae West. It has the quick-release connector still attached as well. This pack has an extra pouch and pocket on the outside of the pack, these would have contained an emergency bailout oxygen bottle supply. Absent from this pack. The pack also with all 4 little press studs tabs in white material, all still attached. These would have been used to attach to the seat parachute harness pack.
The top of the pack is a separate part and comes out of the bottom of the pack. The part has all the pouches and straps to hold all the accessories associated with the K-type dinghy. All press studs and straps are in good condition. Overall a very good pack, ideal for an RAF dinghy/parachute display, collection, or museum.
