    For sale is a WW2 Home Guard Certificate Of Service Issued To Major Sir James R Wilson, 2nd Baronet for his service from the 24th May 1940 to the 31st of December 1944 Accompanied By Research.

      Sir James Robertson Wilson of Airdrie, 2nd Bt. was born on 5 May 1883. He was the son of Sir John Wilson of Airdrie, 1st Bt. and Margaret Bell Robertson. He married Helen Rae Fife Graham, daughter of Archibald Bulloch Graham, on 15th of January 1908. He died on 30th of September 1964 at age 81.    He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, Englands. He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1906 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) He was admitted to Inner Temple. He gained the rank of Captain in the Lanarkshire Yeomanry. He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1917, in Gallipoli and Egypt. He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Wilson, of Airdrie, New Monkland, Lanarks [U.K., 1906] on 28 July 1918. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Perthshire. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire. He gained the rank of officer in the AA Battery, Royal Artillery. He fought in the Second World War. He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers.   During WW1 he was awarded a victory medal and British war medal, unfortunately these are missing.    This certificate is in good condition and is framed in a nice glass front frame. This is an excellent piece of history belonging to a high ranking Major.    Accompanying this medal is 7 scans of his service records.
