    About this item

An 1822/45 Infantry Officers Levee Sword.

"Firmin&Son LimD Warwick St Regent St, London" The Warwisk Street address seems to have been used between 1880 and 1895. The lack of an 1892 pattern blade would further shorten the time frame for its production.

Regulation 1822 pattern hilt free from deformation, with shagreen grip bound with twistwire.

Unusually long 33.75 inch blade with light rust around the ricasso, and a slight bend at the point, both of which should be quite straight forward to remedy. There is also a small amount of movement between the blade and the hilt, and I suspect this is due to the leather blade washer having perished.

The makers marking and proof slug to the ricasso, with crowned VR cypher and foliate etching, which is very clear and clean.

Housed in a brass scabbard with twin hanging rings, of the type carried by Majors and above. A good fit, minor dings/dents, but a good fit, and original to the sword.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
