    About this item

A very clean, untouched example of an issued 1889 Pattern Prussian Infantry Sword.

This example is produced by Robert Hermes of Solingen, and bears his marking at the ricasso.  A date of (18) 90 can be found to the spine, making it an early example. It also bears various inspection markings, including the spine, guard, and pommel.

The sword and scabbard have matching unit markings to the area above the quillion, and the scabbard.

All shagreen and wire to the grip are present, and in good condition. No movement between blade and hilt.

The twin fullered blade measures 28.5 inches and has been service sharpened. The blade is in generally very good, bright condition, with some minor pitting and staining towards the point.

The steel scabbard is in good condition, and shows no sign of being painted black, making it an earlier example, to match the sword.

A generally lovely untouched example, and a much harder to find issued sword, in comparison to private purchase pieces.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
