    About this item

A good example by Wilkinson, dating to 1887.

This sword has had the hilt silver plated, likely shortly after purchase. The hilt is bright with some areas of pitting, where the plating has bubbled. The grip retains all its twistwire, and the shagreen is generally very good and complete.

34.5 inch Blade is bright, and has been polished during its working life. Most etching clearly visible. The right hand side bears a family coat of arms, and "Cheshire Yeomanry" within a scroll. No signs of aggressive sharpening or pitting.

Housed in an Indian type field service leather scabbard, with steel drag. With later Great War period sword frog.

An interesting sword, with avenues for further research, to a rarely seen yeomanry unit.

    Strictly over 18's only.
