    About this item

A highly unusual light infantry officers sword, with a very early patent solid hilt, which has tragically been neglected.

The grip of chequered horn, with sliver twistwire. Unusual flat chequered pommel. The backpiece with chequered thumb rest. The special pattern guard incorporates a crowned VR cypher, above a strungle light infantry bugle horn. The rest formed as acanthus leaves.

Blade length 32.25 inches. The blade of 1845 pattern with early elongated ricasso. Proof slug surrounded by a starburst. The right hand side of the blade has visible etching, including floral swags, crossed lances, light infantry bugle. The left hand side is harder to make out, but could possibly be improved.

    Scabbard absent.

A very interesting sword, which could be tidied up, and improved. A good chance to acquire a rare an interesting sword which would be otherwise be prohibitively expensive!

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
