    About this item

A good example of the Honourable Artillery Company Infantry Officers Sword, based on the 1854 pattern guards officers sword.

This George V example is produced by Wilkinson Sword, and dates to 1915. It carries the original owners initals to the blade, and is fully attributable to Captain Alfred George Firth Osman.

Osman was commissioned into the HAC Infantry from the Artillery, where he has served as a Serjeant, on September the 11th 1915.

The sword is in good untouched condition. The steel gothic style hilt carries the flaming grenade badge with the initials HAC. The shagreen grip is in very good condition, and is bound with silver twistwire. It benefits from still having its brown leather sword knot.

The blade is clean and bright, with single fuller, measuring 32.5 inches. It carries the Wilkinson makers details at the ricasso, with the star surmounted proof slug with initials "HW" on the other. The spine carries the serial number, and "London Made". The blade is etched with intials "A.G.F.O." Standard foliate engraving, Crown, HAC Flaming grenade badge, and a field gun, and feathered lightning bolts, and the words "Honourable Artillery Company" to the other.

The sword is housed in its brown leather field service scabbard.

A very pleasing example of a scarce pattern of British officers sword, by the best cutler of the period, attributable to an officer with much potential for further research. The sword will be supplied with a copy of the Wilkinson proof ledger page for this sword.

    Strictly over 18's only.
