About this item
An original pair of military Tartan Trews in Black Watch Tartan which were made in 1938.
The trousers are made from a wool which features the tartan pattern along with a button fly which fastens with stamped metal buttons, typical of British Army trousers from the 1930s. Slash pockets can be found to each side seam and there are no rear pockets. There is also a large ticket pocket to the waistband and the rear of the trousers feature a 'fishtail' rise which is again typical of the pre Second World War period.
To the rear of the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trews No. 2' below which is the size of 13. The maker's name of 'The Rego Clothiers Ltd' is also present as is the date of 1937/8. Inside the trousers is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'S' which denotes 1938 as the year of issue.
The trousers will suit a 33" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16 3/4"
Rise - 18"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 33"
Outside leg - 40"
Cuff - 9 1/2"
Overall the trousers are wearable and display well with only limited signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage and they are totally wearable. Please bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have other small issues commensurate with age.
A classic pair of British military tartan trousers with a nice inter-war date.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
