    About this item

A hard to find original pair of private purchase women's military leather ankle boots in very good condition.

These boots most likely belonged to an officer in the Auxiliary Territorial Service or the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry and were intended to be worn with the battledress uniform. They are made from a brown coloured leather and do not feature a toe cap. The boots feature 10 pairs of eyelets through which are passed the laces which look to be original to the boots. One is leather whilst the other is standard lace. The soles and heels are the original leather examples with the original metal cleats fitted which would suggest they were intended for field work.

Inside the boots the original maker's name of 'Rowell & Sons' of Melton Mowbray is present as is some other information written in ink which would suggest that the boots were bespoke made.

There is no size marked inside the boots. The sole measures 10 1/4" in length and 3 3/4" at the widest point.

The boots are in good condition with some limited signs of wear and age. Overall they display well and look to be wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing as these are a vintage pair of pre-owned boots which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A hard to find original pair of boots of a very high quality.
