Original 1940 Dated 1940 Pattern Battledress Trousers - 30x30

An original pair of 1940 Pattern Battledress trousers which were made in 1940.

This pattern of trousers was introduced in the middle of 1940 following the retreat from Dunkirk. They feature a twin pleated first field dressing pocket to the right hip which is the main feature which differentiates them from the earlier pattern. The trousers are made from the standard khaki green coloured serge wool and feature belt loops at the waist. All of the buttons are the stamped brass type usually seen on British military uniform in the early war period. Belt loops are fitted around the waist and adjustable tabs are fitted to the bottom of each trousers leg - all of these fasten with the same style of buttons as used for the fly. There is a large single 'map' pocket to the front left leg and a flapped pocket is located to the rear. 

Inside the trousers the original War Department acceptance stamp is still present and is surmounted by the letter 'Q' which denotes 1940 as the year of issue. 

The trousers will suit around a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure - 

Waist - 15"
Inside leg - 30" (1 1/2" to let down)

The trousers are in good condition and on the whole are a clean, usable pair of trousers. There are some signs of wear and use and there is clear evidence of where the cuffs have been folder in on themselves and stitched previously. Overall they display well and are totally wearable. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
