    About this item

An original 1940s French Army Modele 1892 pattern musette haversack bread bag.

This pattern of breadbag was introduced in the last part of the 19th Century and stayed in use with the French Army for over 50 years. This example dates from the 1940s and is made from a green coloured linen cotton blend which is hard wearing. The bag is a simple design and features a flap which fastens with two metal buttons which are marked 'Equipments Militaires' as are often found on French military clothing. A cotton webbing tape strap is fitted around the outside of the bag and can be shortened or lengthened via a double prong metal buckle.

The underside of the flap retains the original factory stamp which is worn leaving no details legible.

The bag is in very good condition with some limited signs of wear and use along with some light staining etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original example with a good clear date!
