About this item
An original pair of British military cotton drill shorts dating from the 1940s.
These shorts are interesting as they are quite typical of 1940s shorts but are much more yellow in hue than standard khaki drill shorts of the period. They feature chrome plated buttons as seen on private purchase Royal Navy shorts from the era and could have been overdyed from white.
The shorts are made from cotton drill and feature the double buckle waist fastening first used on the 1941 pattern shorts. They have a button fly and belt loops at the waist which also fasten with buttons.
The shorts will suit someone of around a 28" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 14"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 16"
Inside leg - 9"
Outside leg - 21"
Cuff - 11 1/2"
The shorts are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is a small amount of staining but overall they appear to be very wearable.
A nice original pair of mid Century shorts!
