About this item
An original private purchase British Army officer's four pocket khaki drill tunic made in the 1940s which is fitted with Notts & Derby insignia.
This tunic is typical of those made during WW2 for officer's in the British Army. It is made from a khaki tan coloured cotton drill maerial and features a four button front, pleated chest pockets and bellows pockets to the skirt. Epaulettes are fitted to each shoulder and there is a pointed cuff at the end of each sleeve. Original Notts and Derby regimental collar badges are fitted to the collar and may be original to the tunic whilst original rank stars are fitted to each epaulette. Rather than regimental pattern buttons, the tunic is fitted with butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons as are often found on this period of tunic.
The tunic will suit around a 38" chest well and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20 1/2"
Waist - 17 1/2"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
The tunic is in good condition and is still very wearable. It has some limited staining and wear along with some signs of wear and age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original jacket in good condition.
