Original 1956 Dated British Army Wool Undershirt - Size 3

An original 1956 Dated British Military Undershirt in good condition.

This pattern of undershirt was used by the British Army and RAF during the Second World War and during the 1950s. It is a simple crew neck design which is pulled on over the head. It is made from an oatmeal coloured wool which is machine made. Inside the original label is still present and states the manufacturer's name as 'S. T. & Co Ltd'. The 1956 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking and the size of 3.

The top is a larger size which will fit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. Because it is wool it stretches out and is designed to hug the wearer's body closely. When laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 18" (stretches to 20")
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 31 1/2"

The item is in good condition with no signs of previous wear or use. There are however a couple of small holes to the front which are illustrated in picture 6. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned vintage item which has small issues commensurate with age. 

A good wearable original example with a clear date. 

Price reduced as the remaining shirts have some small holes.
