    About this item

An original 'Jacket, Overall, Green' dated 1966 and in a size 6.

These trousers belonged to J. S. Ralli who was an officer in the British Army. He was commissioned into the Rifle Brigade in 1958 and had a long career in the military. He went on to the Army Air Corps and also served with the Gurkhas amongst other roles.

This pattern of fatigue jacket is rare to find today compared to the denim battledress jacket it was intended to replace. Made from a green coloured cotton drill, the jacket features a button front, epaulettes, angled flapped pocket to the skirt and a drawstring waist. Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the manufacturer's name as 'J Mandleberg & Co Ltd' and the size as No. 6. The 1966 date is also present as is the War Department broad arrow marking.

The tunic is designed to fit someone of a 40" - 43" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

    Chest - 22 1/2"
    Inside arm - 18 3/4"
    Outside arm - 25 1/2"
    Shoulders - 19"
    Length - 31"

The jacket is in good condition overall and is still the deep green coloured it would have been when new. It does not appear to have seen much wear and is very fresh on the whole. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A rare piece of British military workwear from the post-war period!
