Original 1950s British Army Officers Khaki Drill Trousers
An original pair of British Army officers Khaki Drill trousers which were made for a Coldstream Guards officer in Nairobi in the 1950s.
These trousers are typical of those wore by British Army officers in the 1940s and 1950s. The are made from a tan coloured cotton drill and feature a high rise waist and wide leg. The fly fastens with buttons and waist adjusters are located to each hip. The front of the trousers features twin pleats whilst a single rear pocket is located to the rear. Whilst trousers made in the 1950s more often than not have angled slash pockets at the hips, these trousers have straight pockets which are usually found on trousers from the 1930s and 1940s. This detail means the trousers could easily be passed off as earlier.
The trousers are a small size which will suit around a 26" waist depending on desired fit. The waist belt style also lets them be adjusted in and out which is worth considering. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 13 1/2"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 16"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 41 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is no major damage or staining but these are a pre-worn pair of trousers which may have some small issues commensurate with age. Overall they display very well but please study the pictures before purchasing.
A nice pair of tailored made KD trousers from the 1950s!
