Original 1950s RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers - Size 00

An original pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers which were made in 1942. 

This pattern of trousers came into use with the RAF during the 1930s and stayed in service well into the 1950s. The trousers are made from an RAF blue-grey coloured serge wool and feature a fishtail back, a slash pocket to each hip and stamped brass buttons are fitted around the outside of the trousers. More of the same buttons are used to fasten the fly. The interior of the trousers is lined with a white coloured cotton drill material which was used prior to this being replaced with dark blue in 1943. 

The original label is still fitted to the outside of the seat and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trousers O.A.' below which is the size of 00. The maker's name of 'J.D. Fieldman & Co. Ltd' is also present, as is the War Department broad arrow marking and the 1942 date. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp inside the waistband of the trousers which is surmounted by the letter 'N' which denotes 1943 as the year of issue. 

The trousers will suit around a 30" waist and when laid flat they measures - 

Waist - 15"
Inside leg - 28"

The overall condition of the trousers is very good and they appear to be in deadstock, unworn condition. There is one small hole to the front however, as illustrated in the pictures. They are still wearable and display well but are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very good pair of trousers which would be ideal for a WW2 re-enactor or for a mannequin.
