About this item
A rare pair of British Household Cavalry Khaki Drill Trousers dating from the 1950s which are in good condition.
This pattern of KD trousers is specific to the Household Cavalry and differs from those used by the British Army and RAF. Made from the standard khaki colour cotton drill often used by the British military during this period, the trousers are cut very narrow in the leg and feature a high rise. This style is referred to as 'overalls' quite often. The trousers feature a button fly and more buttons are positioned around the waistband.
Inside the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trousers, No. 3 Dress, Household Cavalry' below which is the size of 16. The maker's name of 'James Smith & Co (Derby) Ltd' is present as is the 1957 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The trousers will suit a 33" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16 1/4"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 35"
Outside leg - 48"
Cuff - 7 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition with only some signs of wear and use. Overall they are a very clean example but please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn, vintage trousers of over 80 years old and may have small issues consummate with this.
A rare pair of khaki drill trousers with some great details.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
