About this item
An original pair of British military shorts made by 'Gieves' in 1962.
These shorts are typical of those made in the 1950s and early 1960s for both military and civilian use. They are made from a light tan coloured cotton drill material and feature a twin pleated front, slash pockets to the hips, a button fly and belt loops. They also have a striking three button tab fastener at the waist which is an excellent detail.
Inside the shorts retain their original maker's label which bears the name of 'Gieves Ltd' to the top, below which are Royal Appointments. The date of 27th June 1962 is also present as is the original owner's name of A. A. H. Fisher.
The shorts will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15 1/4"
Rise - 14 3/4"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 7"
Outside leg - 20 1/2"
Cuff - 15"
The shorts are in good condition and still very wearable. There are some signs of light wear and some marks but overall the shorts are in good condition. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these shorts are a vintage pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original pair of mid Century shorts!
