About this item
An original pair of 1974 dated Canadian army windproof combat trousers in a size 36x29.
These trousers were originally produced in the late 1940s as part of an experimental pattern of clothing which was trialed by the Canadian Army alongside the X-50 and X-51 parka. They were produced during the late 1960s and early 1970s and are made from a olive coloured tight weave cotton nylon blend and are a cross between a windproof trouser and a combat trouser. They are designed to be worn as over-trousers in the same way as windproof trousers made during the Second World War were. They feature a high rise, wide leg and drawstring at the waist like windproof trousers but have more sophisticated pockets. Cargo pockets are fitted to the side of each leg and there are reinforcement sections to the knee and seat. Waist adjusters are located to each hip and there is a drawstring inside each cuff. The fly fastens with a brass 'Lightning' two-way zipper which is typical of the period.
Inside the trousers the original label is still present and bears the manufacture year of 1973 and details pertaining to size.
The trousers will suit a 34" - 36" waist, depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measures -
Waist - 18"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 10"
The trousers are in good condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. Overall they display well and look to be very wearable with some small repairs etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A nice pair of 1970s combat trousers with some great details.
