    About this item

An extremely rare pair of 1928 dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Breeches as worn throughout the intre-war period.

This pattern of breeches was introduced in 1919 to be worn by all airmen with the corresponding tunic. They are made from an RAF blue-grey coloured serge wool and feature stamped brass buttons to the fly as well as around the top of the waistband which braces can be attached to. Frog mouth pockets are located to the front of the garment and the rear features a fishtail back, typical of breeches made during this period. Plastic buttons are used to fasten the calf openings.

To the rear of the breeches the original paper label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Pantaloons, Tartan Blue R.A.F' below which is the size of 4. This is intended to fit up to 5'4" tall and a 30" waist. The manufacturer's name of 'H. Lottery & Co Ltd' is present as is the 1928 date.

The breeches will fit a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -

    Waist - 15"
    Rise - 13"
    Rear rise -
    Inside leg - 21 1/2"
    Outside leg - 32"
    Cuff - 6"

The breeches are in excellent, unissued condition. They have clearly never been worn and they display very well with only limited signs of age etc. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage garment which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A fantastic example of this very rare piece of inter-war Ordinary Airman's uniform. The condition and clear date mean that this would be almost impossible to upgrade.
