About this item
A scarce original pair of denim 'Trousers, Padded' made in 1943.
This pattern of trousers was produced alongside a jacket which was also made in the same green coloured denim material. The design closely follows the Soviet Russian 'Telogreika' pattern of padded winter trousers and includes the same double belt loop detail. The trousers feature chocolate brown coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons as are commonly found on mid-war manufactured clothing. They feature simple braces which are made from white cotton tape and more tapes are located to the cuffs to allow the trousers to be fastened at the ankle. To the rear of the trousers is a cinch-back belt and buckle as well as the original label. The label bears the title 'Trousers, Padded' below which is the size of 3. The maker's name of 'P. S. & J. Ellis Ltd' is present as is the 1943 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'M' and denotes 1944 as the year of issue.
The trousers are in good condition for this age and appear to be un-issued. They show no signs of previous wear or use and on the whole they display very well. There are some marks etc, so please study the pictures before purchasing.
A rare pair of wartime British denim trousers, complete with their original labels and in excellent condition.
