    About this item

A scarce pair of original Indian made British Army Battledress Trousers dating from the Second World War and in good condition.

Khaki Drill comes in many patterns and this has to be my new favourite. The pattern dates from 1944 or 1945 and features the single pleated map pocket and First Field Dressing pocket also seen on Indian made Jungle Green battledress trousers from the same period. Other typical wartime details include the coconut husk buttons and hand stitched buttonholes. The wide leg (with 10 1/2" cuffs) is also another typical trait of wartime KD trousers. The most interesting detail however is the waist fastening which features a single strap and fastens with a single prong buckle. This design is identical to the cross belt trousers in issue at the same time but only has one belt instead of two! The fly fastens with buttons, all of which are coconut husk save for one which is a stamped zinc type as used on early war Ordinary Rank's collarless shirts. It is clearly a period replacement.

The trousers are a small size which will suit a 26" waist and when laid flat measure -

    Waist - 13"
    Rise - 15"
    Rear rise - 17"
    Inside leg - 29"
    Outside leg - 41"
    Cuff - 10 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition for their age and are still very wearable. There is some limited staining and also a very small repair to the rear of the left leg which is only noticeable on close inspection. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-worn trousers.

A fantastic original pair of rare KD battledress trousers with some great details.
