Original WW2 British Army 1942 Pattern Khaki Drill Trousers Attributed

An original pair of 1942 Pattern British Army Khaki Drill Trousers which were worn by a British Army officer during the Second World War. 

These shorts came as part of a grouping of items which belonged to 320940 Ronald Herbert Gibbins who was an officer in the Gloucestershire regiment during the Second World War. He served with the 10th Battalion and fought in Burma.

This pattern of trousers came into use with the British Army during the middle of the Second World War and is one of the more sought-after patterns today. They feature a First Field Dressing pocket to the right hip as well as a fly button front and brace buttons, all of which are vegetable ivory (plastic) examples which would suggest that these were made in 1942 or 1943. Other notable features found on this pattern of trousers are the twin pleated front and rear and the extra buttons for the waist tab to allow for different fittings at the waist - a precursor to the cross belt design introduced in 1944 and used for many years post-war. 

The trousers will suit a 29" waist. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 14 1/2”
Rise - 16”
Rear rise - 18”
Inside leg - 30”
Outside leg - 43"
Cuff - 10”

The trousers are in good, wearable condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. They are still very wearable and display well with some staining etc. The button fitted to the First Field Dressing pocket is broken and there is a small hole to the crotch which is illustrated in picture 5. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers which may have small flaws commensurate with age. 

Altogether a nice pair of original Khaki Drill trousers which are a sought after pattern and were used during WW2.
