About this item
An original pair of British Officers Khaki Drill Jodhpurs dating from the inter-war period.
This pattern of Jodhpurs were worn by officer's serving in the British Army and the RAF during both world wars. The lining materials point to these being an earlier example which date from the 1920s or 1930s. Like many KD items they are theatre made and devoid of any labels or markings which makes them impossible to date exactly.
They are made from a standard khaki coloured cotton drill material and the construction, stitching and button holes are commensurate with theatre made items. A huge amount of KD came from India and other parts of the empire, due to shorter supply lines. The jodhpurs feature frog mouth pockets and a button fly which fastens with two-piece metal buttons which are typical of the inter-war period. To the rear is a cinch-back belt and buckle which is again typical of the inter-war years.
The jodhpurs will fit a 34" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 17 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 3 1/2"
Outside leg - 44 1/2"
Cuff - 7"
The jodhpurs are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Overall they display very well but please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item.
A nice original pair of pre-war jodhpurs which are in good condition!
