    About this item

An original 1951 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No 4 which is fitted with WW2 insignia.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1951, it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass King's crown RAF buttons and early Second World War period embroidered eagle badges to the top of each sleeve. Below these are fitted embroidered Leading Aircraftman rank badges.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No.4 which will fit a 34-35" chest and 32" waist. Below this is the 1951 date and the War Department broad arrow.  The manufacturer's name of 'J. Harvey Ltd' is also present.

The tunic is in good condition for its age and overall displays well. There are some signs of wear and use but no serious damage or flaws. There is a very small area of damage illustrated in picture 3 although this is only noticeable under close scrutiny. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor or collector well and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
