About this item
An original Civil Defence ladies wool skirt which dates from 1954 and is in good condition.
This skirt is the same as the ARP72 skirt which was introduced in 1941 to be worn with the A.R.P. 71 four pocket tunic, replacing the earlier and inferior 'bluette' combination suit overalls. The design remained unchanged in the 1950s although the designation changed to 'C.D. 23'.
The skirt is made from the same dark coloured serge as the tunics and features a small opening which fastens with a button to the top and pop studs lower down. The opposite seam to this features a small pocket which mirrors the opening.
Inside the skirt the original issue label is still intact and bright and legible. Stitched to the pocket pocket it states the size as 6 which will fit around a 26-28" waist. The manufacturers name 'Windsmoor Ltd' is present as is the 1954 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The skirt is in good condition with only very limited signs of wear and use. It displays well although there are two flaws which are illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study these before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have other small flaws commensurate with age.
A good example which could make a good addition to a collection or could complete a uniform.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
