    About this item

An original Royal Air Force Foul Weather Anorak which dates from the 1970s.

Whilst at first glance this looks like the common nylon examples made in the 1980s, this is in fact an earliuer example which is made from proofed cotton. The design is also more utilitaria with no pockets and a more simple hood. It is a very simple design and clearly designed to be worn as a rainproof and waterproof outerlayer. The front of the smock fastens with a nickle plated 'NZ' branded zipper which denotes 'Newey' as the maker. These zips are typically found on 1970s British military clothing. There is a drawstring along the bottom edge and another at the waist inside the jacket.

The original label is present to the interior and feature pre-metric sizing which was introduced in the early-mid 1980s. It bears the RAF stores number 22c/1300590 below which is the size of 5 and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The smock is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original early example of this pattern of anorak.
