    About this item

An original pair of British Army officer's whipcord breeches which were made by 'Thomas J. Brett' in 1922.

These breeches are typical of Great War construction with a high rise waist, voluminous thighs and are tight fitting around the calves. They fasten with buttons at the front with more buttons for braces whilst the calf openings also fasten with buttons. They are cut from a khaki coloured whipcord which was the popular colour in the latter part of the War as opposed to the light colour seen in the pre-war and early war years. All of the buttons are stamped metal examples which are maker marked 'T J Brett'.

Inside the breeches all of the lining materials are typical of the Edwardian era. The original label is also present and bears the maker's name, the original owners name and the 1922 date.

The breeches will suit around a 32" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

    Waist - 16"
    Rise - 15"
    Rear rise - 21 1/2"
    Inside leg - 25"
    Outside leg - 38 1/2"
    Cuff - 5"
    Calf - 5 3/4"

The breeches are in good condition for their age and display well. They look to be wearable with no serious damage or flaws. There are some signs of wear and age but overall they are in good condition. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this item is approximately 100 years old and has some small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of First World War period breeches in good condition.
