About this item
A beautiful and original US Army, WW2 era, shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI). The patch would have been worn on the shirts and jackets of US GIs who served in this unit. Original period item.
This particular AAF patch is bullion thread on dark blue felt backing, possibly theatre made, but either way it would be private purchase rather than an issued item. Has a lavender cotton weave backing with possible evidence of having been stuck in an album, but this does not detract from the item.
Measures 71mm in diameter horizontally across the centre.
