About this item

An original 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a  size No. 8.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before the Second World War and saw issue throughout the conflict and well into the post-war period. It was worn by all airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown button and wartime economy printed eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve.

The tunic retains its original issue label to the interior which is still mostly legible. It bears the title of 'Jackets, O. A', below which is the size of 8. The maker appears to be Montague Burton and the date is present and appears to be either 1942 or possibly 1943.

The tunic is a small size which is intended to fit a 35" - 36" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 19"
Waist - 16 1/2"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 29 1/2"

The overall condition of the tunic is good with some signs of wear and age. There are a couple of small holes which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have other small flaws commensurate with age.

Whilst not a perfect example it is complete with its original badges and could suit a collector or re-enactor well.

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
