About this item
An original 1948 dated 1946 pattern British Army Battledress Blouse grouping which belonged to 22143745 Eric Darlington who served with the Royal Army Service Corps from 1949.
This tunic is the rare 1946 pattern which was only made for a short period. It has had the collar re-tailored to make it look more like the 1949 pattern battledress jacket and has had two long darts added to the rear. Like all 1946 pattern jackets, the pocket features a pleat and exposed button. Green vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons are fitted throughout and the waist belt buckle is a steel example of the same style used during WW2. Original Royal Army Service Corps shoulder titles are fitted to the top of each sleeve.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and states the size as No. 11 and the manufacturer as 'Albion Lt Belfast'. The 1948 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow. adjacent to this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'R' which denotes 1948 as the year of issue.
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is a mark to the front left shoulder but overall it displays well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
Accompanying the jacket are Eric's original metal identity discs, A photograph of Eric and some various pieces of paperwork relating to his military service.
A nice original grouping from the immediate post-war period which offers the potential of further research.
