    About this item

An original 1945 dated British Royal Navy white cotton Class I and Class III cotton tunic. This pattern was worn in hot climates by Chief Petty Officers, Petty Officers and various types of seamen who did not wear square rig.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before the Second World War and stayed in service for many years. It is made from a white coloured cotton drill material and features a single breasted front and stand collar which fastens with two metal hooks and eyes. The front of the jacket is fitted with butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons and two plain patch pockets are located to the chest.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Gieves Ltd'. Below this is the date of 13-6-45 and the original owner's name which is A. A. Murray.

The tunic will fit a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 19 1/2"
    Inside arm - 17"
    Outside arm - 24"
    Shoulders - 16"
    Length - 30"

The tunic is in good condition with limited signs of wear and use including a mark to the rear. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned work jacket which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original piece of Mid-Century British military workwear.
