About this item
A rare original Post Second World War RAF New Pattern Battledress Blouse dated 1948 and in a size No. 7.
This pattern of blouse is arguably the rarest of RAF Battledress blouses as it was only made for a few short years. It came into service with the RAF in 1947 and was replaced shortly after by the much more common New Pattern blouse which has a notched collar. This particular example features black plastic Kings crown RAF buttons to the pockets and epaulettes.
Inside the jacket retains its original manufacturer's label which is still bright and legible. It states the maker as 'E. Raffles & Co Ltd' and the size as No. 7. The 1948 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow stamp.
The overall condition of the jacket is good and it displays well. It shows only limited signs of wear and age and is still a nice deep blue colour and is not washed and faded out. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
All in all a nice and very original example of this rare pattern of jacket which would make a great addition to any RAF or Battledress collection.
