About this item
An original British Army 1940 Pattern Dismounted Greatcoat in a size 4 which dates from the Second World War.
The coat is a standard 1940 Pattern Dismounted Ordinary Ranks Greatcoat which is made from a heavy khaki green coloured serge wool and features brass General Service buttons throughout. Flapped pockets are located to the skirt and there is a half belt at the rear which fastens with buttons which are again the standard General Service pattern usually encountered.
Inside the coat the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as 4 and the maker as 'S. Stein & Sons Ltd'. Below this is the War Department broad arrow marking.
The coat is designed to fit a 39" - 40" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 17 3/4"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 43"
The coat displays well and is still very wearable. There are some signs of age and wear including some small flaws to the collar which is illustrated in picture 4. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item with some issues commensurate with age.
A nice original wartime period greatcoat which is in good condition.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
