    About this item

An original British Army Battledress Blouse dating from the Second World War and in a wearable size 13.

This jacket is a first pattern example which was introduced in 1938 and manufactured until the middle of 1940 when it was superseded by the 1940 pattern. It features an unlined collar and two piece brass buttons whilst revolving shank buttons are used to fasten the epaulettes. A plain wire waist buckle is also present and is another feature usually found on early manufacture jackets.

Inside the jacket there are no labels present but the size of 13 is stamped to both interior pockets. Size 13 jackets are designed to fit a 38" - 39" chest and a 33" - 34" waist. Whilst there is no date the jacket is undoubtedly of wartime manufacture.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

    Chest - 21 1/2"
    Waist - 16"
    Inside arm - 19 1/4"
    Outside arm - 26"
    Length - 22 1/2"
    Shoulders - 17 1/2"

The condition of the jacket is good as can be seen in the pictures. There are a few holes and some minor moth grazing - notably next to the buckle which is not seen when the jacket is fastened, and to one of the epaulettes. Please study the pictures carefully before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage jacket of around 80 years old which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original wartie BD jacket in a desirable size.
