About this item
An original British Army 1940 Pattern (Austerity) Battledress Blouse which belonged to T/19162098 J. Kemp who served with the 17Coy (T) Royal Army Service Corps in the immediate post-war period.
The jacket is a standard 1940 Pattern (Austerity) example which was made between 1944 and1946 from the standard khaki green coloured serge wool and is fitted with green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons throughout. The blouse has been neatly tailored to have an open faced collar which is typical of battledress worn in late 1944 onwards. It has been fitted with 21st Army Group formation badges and there is evidence of where shoulder titles have also been fitted previously. The original label is no longer present inside the jacket but the original owner has marked the last three digits of his serial number, his surname and 'F Troop'.
The jacket is a small size and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 19 1/2"
Waist - 16"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at rear - 19"
The jacket is in very good condition for its age and displays well as can be seen in the pictures. There are a couple of small holes but these don't overly detract from the jacket. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which has some flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original jacket with history.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
