About this item
An interesting RAF khaki drill tunic made by 'Moss Bros' during the Second World War.
The construction of this tunic is typical of WW2 period examples in every way. It is made from a tan coloured cellular cotton and features brass King's crown RAF buttons throughout. To the breast are pleated patch pockets which have scalloped pocket flaps whilst the lower pockets have been removed by the original owner. There is evidence of where insignia has previously been fitted to the sleeves and the original waist belt is still present and fastens with the correct double prong brass buckle.
Inside the tunic the original maker's name is present and reads 'Moss Bros Ltd' and bears the Covent Garden address.
The tunic is a smaller size and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 19 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length - 31"
The tunic is in worn condition but still displays well. There is a hole to the upper right sleeve where a badge has been removed and there is also a small tear to the back behind the belt as shown in the pictures. These flaws have been reflected in the price but please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a worn, vintage item.
A nice original wartime tunic which is interesting being a private purchase example.
