About this item
The jacket is made from the standard RAF blue-grey coloured barathea wool as used for officers' tunics as well as Warrant Officers. It is fitted with a full set of brass kings crown RAF buttons and retains its original waist belt and waist belt buckle, which is again brass. A padded RCAF pattern pilots wing is fitted to the left breast below which are various medal ribbons. The cuff is fitted with two rings of rank braid which denotes the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
Inside the tunic some parts of the lining have been removed. The interior pocket flap is still present however and bears a name tag which reads 'Eric Bell'. This may offer the prospect of further research.
The jacket is in well used condition but displays reasonably well. There is staining and various signs of wear and some of the rank braid fitted to the cuff is loose. There is also some limited moth damage. The condition is consistent with a tunic that has seen action so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage item with some flaws.
A very original aircrew tunic which could have some interesting history. This would make a great addition to any RAF collection!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
