About this item

An original United States Marine Corps P41 Herringbone Twill fatigue jacket in good condition which dates from the Second World War period.

This shirt is named to Major Larry Donaly Woody, USMC who had a decorated career receiving 21 decorations for combat in Korea and Vietnam. He flew C-130's in Vietnam with the 152nd Marine Air Wing. More can be read about him here - http://www.codymleblanc.com/genealogy/showmedia.php?mediaID=14724&tngpage=3210

This pattern of jacket was introduced for wear with a matching pair of trousers and is often referred to as 1941 pattern. It replaced the early blue denim working dress and saw service throughout WW2, being replaced by the P44 uniform towards the end of the conflict.

The jacket is made from the standard green coloured herringbone twill material used for many US Army workwear items during the Second World War. The jacket features a patch pocket and there is evidence of where the lower pockets have been removed - most likely so it could be worn tucked in as a shirt. Two of the front buttons are the US Marine Corp pattern usually seen whilst the uppermost is a period replacement. One of the buttons on each cuff has also been removed. Part of the USMC stencil is still present to the breast pocket.

Inside the shirt the original owner's name stamp is present and reads LD WOODY.

The jacket is a larger size which will fit someone of a 42" chest comfortably,  depending on desired fit. When laid flat measures -

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 1/4"
Shoulders - 21"
Length - 28 1/2"

The jacket is in good overall condition with some signs of wear and use. There is some light staining but overall it presents well and is very wearable. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original USMC HBT jacket in a larger size which has some interesting history!

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
