About this item
An original battledress blouse in excellent new old stock condition which was made in 1946.
This pattern of jacket was introduced in 1942 as an economy version of the original denim jacket introcued in 1939. It is made from a green coloured denim material and features green coloured revolving shank buttons which are held on with brass split rings to the reverse. The waist fastens with a wartime period steel buckle.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Overalls, Blouses, Denim' below which is the size of 5. The maker's name of 'G. K. O'Connor & Co' is also present as is the 1946 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The jacket is intended to fit a35" to 37" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23"
Waist - 18"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 22"
The jacket is in excellent condition with no signs of previous wear or use. It is a very fresh example which displays very well and could be described as 'deadstock' or 'new old stock' as it has clearly never been worn. It is a very good example but please take time to study the pictures as is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all, a nice original British denim battledress blouse in fantastic condition!
